Getting A Quote

Does it cost anything to get a scrap car quote?

No, it’s free to get a scrap car quote and there’s no obligation to accept. Just enter your car registration and postcode online to see how much your scrap car is worth.

Do I get time to think about my quote?

Yes, your quote will be saved for seven days. When you want to retrieve your quote, just enter your registration and postcode online, or click the link in the email you’ll get.

What kind of cars do you buy?

We buy any scrap car or van up to 3,500kg.

It doesn’t matter what the age or condition of your car is, whether it has a high mileage or has been written off – we buy any scrap car!

How do you work out how much my scrap car is worth?

Your car registration is used to find out the type of car you own, and your postcode is used to find its location, so that we can find you the best price for your car from local buyers.

We may also ask you some questions about your car’s condition. If you’re unable to answer any questions, we may make some assumptions. Your answers and our assumptions will be shown to you alongside your quote.

We’ll use this information to give you the best price available for your car from competing branches in your local area.

What will you ask me about my scrap car?

We might ask you some questions about the condition of your scrap car, such as:

  • Are there any parts missing?
  • Is there any damage?
  • What’s the approximate mileage?
  • Do you have the keys?
  • Do you have the registration certificate?
  • Has it ever been written off?
  • Does it start and drive?
  • Is there any MOT remaining?
  • Is there any service history?
  • Has there been any commercial use?

If you don’t know the answer any of the questions, we might make some assumptions about the condition of your scrap car. Your answers and our assumptions will be shown to you alongside your quote.

These questions are in addition to the minimum requirements.

What are the minimum requirements?

When we give you a quote for your scrap car, it’s based on the following minimum requirements:

  • you are able to provide photographic ID and proof of address;
  • your car is free of all finance charges, such as a hire purchase or loan agreement;
  • your car is free from any additional waste, such as litter, refuse or rubbish;
  • your car is powered only by a single petrol or diesel internal combustion engine and does not have an electric or hybrid powertrain;
  • your car (or light van) has no more than 9 seats (i.e. not a motorbike or HGV); and
  • your car is accessible (in the case of a collection) meaning that it is parked on solid ground with inflated tyres, so that it can be safely winched onto a recovery vehicle.

If any of the above are not true, the instant quote initially provided might need to be changed. You’ll be able to provide us with further details.

Does my scrap car have to be free from major damage?

No, we buy any scrap car even if it’s damaged. When you get a quote we might ask you whether there is any damage to your car.

Undamaged means there is no visible wear and tear or damage.

Wear and tear means it has minor issues for the age of car but no major damage. This may include rust patches, small dents and scratches, but these must not be excessive in number or size.

Major damage means the car has been badly damaged from incidents such as an accident, collision, fire, flood, act of theft or vandalism.

After you’ve got your quote you’ll be able to discuss your quote and provide more information.

Does my scrap car have to be complete?

No, we buy any scrap car even if it has missing parts. When you get a quote we might ask you whether there any major or minor parts missing.

Your car is complete if all minor and major parts are present. Don’t worry about the odd missing wheel trim, interior trim, body trim, badge, parcel shelf, aerial, spare wheel or aftermarket audio player, but these should not be excessive in number.

Minor parts are those needed to pass an MOT test, such as lights, mirrors, wipers, steering, brakes or exhaust.

Major parts are those which may have a value when recycled, such as the engine, electronic control unit, gearbox, bodywork, seats, battery, catalytic converter and wheels.

After you’ve got your quote you’ll be able to discuss your quote and provide more information.

Does it matter if my scrap car has a high mileage?

No, we buy scrap cars that have a high mileage. When you get a quote we might ask you for your approximate mileage.

Does it matter if my scrap car has been written off?

After you’ve got your quote you’ll be able to discuss your quote and provide more information.

Does my scrap car need to start and drive?

No, we buy any scrap car, whether it starts and drives or not.

However, if you tell us that your car starts and drives, you’re stating that there are no known mechanical problems with the engine or drivetrain (the components between the engine and wheels), you have the car keys and there is enough charge in the battery and enough fuel in the tank to allow us to carry out a check.

If you tell us that your car doesn’t start and drive, you’ll be given the opportunity to tell us more about it.
